Best of 2007

Just a few things from my personal list of favorite things from 2007:

Favorite "new" thing: My nephew who was born last January

Best movie I've seen on DVD in 2007: The Lives of Others

Best movie I've seen in the theater in 2007: The Kite Runner

Innovation that amazed me in 2007: Clinique's Kohl Shaper for Eyes
(lately I've started pulling out my eyebrow hairs, some sort of anxiety/stress thing and I had to get something to fill in the blank spaces. Clinique had the perfect shade. After using it for a few weeks, I noticed there seemed to be something under the cap, so I pulled the cap - and there was a little pencil sharpener built right into the cap! Brilliant! This is one of the best innovations I've seen).

Favorite diverson of 2007: Webkinz (I know, it's for kids, but the games they have are addictive and fun! Plus, I get to make and decorate a little virtual house for the pets which is fun for me!)
Least favorite trend of 2007: Celebrity pregnancies
Least favorite revelation: That I am the last person from my peer group who doesn't have a kid
Favorite places visited in 2007: Hawaii, Iowa, and my nephews

I have more, so I'll have to do a Part 2 on this one.

Trying again (in so many ways)

I have no good excuse for not blogging all this time - other than the usual life crap we all have going on. So, this is my first attempt to ease back in, to "try again" as it were.

And with that, a couple of updates. My husband and I are "trying again" for a family. We've been pretty active and on/off fertility drugs for months. Finally, this month, we're graduating to Intra-uterine Insemmination (IUI). Any day now, when I get that smiley face on the ovulation predictor, we'll go in and hope I get pregant.

At the same time, we began the process of international adoption in October. I've been really struggling with the paperwork and such, so I haven't gotten very far on it. We've decided to adopt from Russia after exploring different countries and the pros and cons of each. But right now, we've chosen to put it on hold for a little bit while we try IUI. While we were just "trying" I felt like we could do that and pursue the adoption at the same time, but with the IUI, I just feel like I need to focus on that for now.

So, the other way I'm "trying again" is trying to blog and keep up with it! Hope I get some readers at some point, although I understand if you're tired of waiting for something new.
